There is something special about Blewitt Springs, the highest and coolest sub-region situated at the Northern end of McLaren Vale as you travel into the Adelaide Hills GI. Climatically & geologically there is the Maslin sand which was windswept across ancient rock formations hundreds of years ago and the diurnal breezes guided by the Hills face that cool the vineyards by night.
Yet there’s more to it, a sense of place, a semi remote pocket that is truly unique which shines through the grapes that are grown and the wines that are made from them! Our I.P.O.S Shiraz is dry grown by the brothers Whaite in their Springs Hill Vineyard in upper Blewitt Springs, two articulate gentlemen who have continued to tend the vines first planted by their father for more than 40 years.
The well drained soils and cooler nights allow us to make a Shiraz at the more elegant end of the spectrum with glowing dark red fruit and layers of finesse evenly balanced through the palate. There are no additions to this wine, the flavour, tannin and acid are as nature intended them to be. We raise a glass to you Gary & Anthony Whaite and hope we made something enjoyable from the beautiful fruit you provided us.
