A multi-clone mix that spent 18 months in new and used French oak. It has excellent colour and depth of fruit, predominantly red cherry and wild strawberry, accompanied by fine tannins and oak that needs to settle down – which it will do as the spices build
James Halliday, Wine Companion 2020 Edition
93 Points –
Bright, medium to deep red/purple colour. Attractive toasty, smoky oak touches; complex spicy fruit as well as red and darker fruit notes. It’s quite rich and fleshy in the mouth, with good concentration and very long-lasting flavour. The tannins are very fine and soft.

The Estate Pinot Noir is sourced purely from our five preferred clones from the three-hectare Ashton Hills Vineyard. The fruit is de-stemmed via a small, customised, gentle de-stemmer that keeps as many whole berries as possible. After ferment, the fruit is then basket pressed, and the wine is made without any additions until bottling. Some whole bunches are included, and the percentage varies according to the style of the vintage. The wine is then matured in a combination of old and new French barriques prior to bottling.
Ripe and succulent red fruits are balanced by fine cedar, undergrowth and earthy notes. There is freshness throughout that provides balance to the remarkably plush and seductive mouthfeel.
